What are your qualifications?

All of our ultrasound technicians have received professional training in both the safe use of all equipment used for scans, and performance of scans.

Claire has attended training at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Claire has attended the all in one mandatory training day and is also the designated safeguarding lead. 


Are ultrasound scans safe?

We have adopted the ALARA protocol for scans as we take the health of both yourself and your baby very seriously. Ultrasound technology has been around for over 30 years and there has been no evidence to suggest ultrasound scanning presents and risks to the mother or baby. When scanning, we do not exceed the 20-30 minutes recommended maximum time for an ultrasound. see our safety statement in full here.


How many people can attend the scan?

We want you to invite as many people as you want to share your memorable experience with. We have seats for 2 people but have more standing room.


Can I do anything to prepare for my scan?

In the week leading up to your scan you can drink plenty of water to help clear the amniotic water and produce better images. However, it is important to remember that there are other factors which may present on the day of the scan which may affect the clarity of images. Try to have a fizzy, sugary drink around 30 minutes before your scan as this often wakes baby ready for your meeting. Also please arrive with a moderately full bladder to give the best chance of good images.


Do you perform rescans?

We want to make sure you get the best possible experience at Bubbaview and will offer further scan (at our discretion) if we are unable to gain images of your baby. If you book a scan to be performed before 10 weeks gestation you will not be eligible for a free rescan if we are unable to get an adequate image.  Many factors can affect the clarity of the images obtained, such as:
* baby having hands and/ or feet over their face
* maternal high BMI
* anterior placenta (placenta at the front of your uterus)
* baby being tightly snuggled into mum
* baby being head down or well engaged in the pelvis

The experience of seeing and bonding with your baby is truly magical all on its own and some babies can be very shy, we try our very best to obtain images of your baby with all the tricks we know but sometimes a baby can lay in a position that is impossible to gain good pictures so we will offer a further scan free of charge, but cannot guarantee your baby will be in any better position for the ideal 3D/ 4D images.


When do I make payment for my scan?

Bookings that are undertaken online take the full amount of the scan of your choice. However, you can book over the phone if you prefer.


Can I purchase extras at my scan?

Yes, we have a number of packages available for you to put together everything you may desire from your scan experience.


What is a 3D/4D scan?

Ultrasound scans give you the opportunity to meet your bubba before it is born and are truly magical experiences not to be missed. We offer 2D/3D/4D/HD images using the latest ultrasound technology and are the proud owners of a HD live GE Voluson scanner with the ability to capture some incredible images of your unborn baby in a relaxed and friendly environment.
2D scans – black/ white two dimensional images
3D scans – 3 dimensional still images
4D scans – adds movement to the 3D scan creating a movie of your baby scan
HD Live – real time images with the latest technology to improve the colour and texture of images


When is the best time for a 3D/ 4D/ HD live scan?

We are happy to scan anytime from 22 weeks to birth, but cannot always guarantee great images due to factors, such as, an engaged head down baby, reduced fluid and generally being a bit more squished during later pregnancy. So, we have advised on the ideal number of weeks for you to have your scan in order to achieve the best images. For the best chubby face images we suggest you attend for your scan between 24-32 weeks, however, a bonding experience can be taken at anytime during pregnancy.


What will happen at my scan?

On arrival we will ask you to complete some paperwork and will then take you into the scan room. We will ask you to tuck some paper towel between your clothes and lower tummy so we can apply the ultrasound gel. We will explain everything about your scan so that you understand exactly what you are seeing at every point of your experience. You will be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat and watch your baby as the sleep, yawn, smile, suck their thumb in their giving you the fascinating opportunity to get up close and personal to your baby in a way you never imagined possible and an exciting view of life in the womb which should not be missed.
We’re here to try and make your scan as relaxed, comfortable and a magical as possible so we welcome you feedback to enable us to continually improve our services provided so after your scan we will ask you to complete an evaluation form if you have time.

Can I still have a scan if I don’t want to know the sex of my baby?

Yes, of course. Just let us know before we start your scan and we will turn the TV off until we have established how your baby is lying to avoid accidentally seeing the sex of your baby. Then you can sit back and enjoy the experience of a bonding scan without any worry of “accidentally seeing” with the full screen image of your baby on TV.


Do you charge more for twins?

No, unlike some of our competitors we don’t charge extra for scanning multiples, however please let us know when you book, so we can allow extra time as scanning multiples can be more difficult.

Can I reschedule my booking?

Of course, however we may make a small administration charge for this. If you wish to change your appointment up to 1 calendar month before, you can do this free of charge. If you wish to change your appointment up to 1 week before we charge a £10 re-booking fee. If you wish to change your appointment within 1 week of your visit we charge a £20 re-booking fee.
